Canadian Puppeteers Still (sort of) on Strike

Canadian film and television performers, including puppeteers are on strike in most of the country (see previous post). In the latest development, a judge has ruled that the labour action by the performer's union ACTRA can continue but has ordered ACTRA and the Canadian Film and Television Production Association (CFTPA) in to arbitration. At issue is that although the union is technically "on strike" performers can continue to work if a production's producer signs a letter agreeing to all of ACTRA's terms. CFTPA had gone to court in an attempt to have the letters declared illegal.
