Monday Morning Inspiration: A Sexy Female Puppet

Bent Image Lab used an interesting digital technique to create a sexy looking female puppet for a steamy stop motion commercial.

How many famous female puppet characters can you name? Miss Piggy and...not many sadly. One of the toughest things to do in puppetry seems to be creating effective female puppet characters (see previous post). Especially from a puppet building standpoint, there's something about the female form that just seems to be difficult to recreate in puppetry. The hardest female characters of all to pull off are ones that are supposed to be beautiful or sexy; when they're not done right they often end up looking like drag queens.

For a recent commercial for Lux Provocateur soap the mad geniuses at Bent Image Lab came up with an innovative solution to this problem - shoot a stop motion puppet and then stick a real live human face on it. It's a very cool technique that would be interesting to try out with live action puppetry.
