I've been curious for years about how puppetry is manifesting itself in the digital world and today there's a lot of people doing interesting experiments that use puppetry interfaces to control digital media. The latest that I've comes across is an interactive sock puppet theatre created by Haiyan Zhang that uses sock puppets posed in certain positions to trigger animations and provide commentary based on the situations being played out.
Pretty cool stuff.
