I saw some great video this morning of a work called Takashi's Seasons by Japanese-American artist Takashi Kawashima. It's a live shadow puppet/video performance using Utsushi-e, a unique and little-known artform that first emerged in Japan during the 17th century when magic lanterns brought from Holland were combined with traditional Asian shadow puppet shows. It blends light manipulation, painted images, projection and shadow puppetry in a manner that's very similar to Phantasmagoria.
