Channel 102's hit puppet series Cakey! and Puppet Rapist have produced their final episodes.
The one-two puppet punch of Cakey! The Cake From Outer Space and Puppet Rapist came to an end Monday night at the latest screening for Channel 102. Both shows were "self-cancelled" by their creators after wrapping up their pre-determined story arcs this month. I don't want to give anything away, but if you've been enjoying Puppet Rapist don't miss the final episode, which has a couple of surprising twists and turns and an appropriate, satisfying ending. Likewise, Cakey's finale wraps things up nicely and strikes a surprising emotional chord.
If you haven't seen these shows before take the time to watch them from the beginning. What I think was most remarkable about them was that they were both able to combine subtle performances with sophisticated storylines to create adult-oriented entertainment with puppets that didn't have to resort to lame fart jokes and frat humour (the odd puppet rapist and drag queen not withstanding).
