Football, puppets and positive values come together in the new international series Real Pets.
After living in Mexico for awhile and spending last summer in Toronto's World Cup-crazed Little Italy I've come realize that what separates Canadians and Americans from the rest of the world is that the rest of the world watches soccer (er, football) and we don't.
For example, few in Canada and the U.S. have heard of Spain's Real Madrid, even though it's one of the most popular sports clubs in the world and home to superstar footballer David Beckham. Despite being relatively unknown in North America, Real Madrid is so big and so popular overseas that the club is expanding in to the realm of mainstream entertainment. Their latest endeavor is a new T.V. series called Real Pets that combines soccer and puppetry to teach positive values like tolerance, team work, bravery and courage to children aged 2-8.
The series is built around a cast of bright, colourful puppets from Spain's Román y Cía and also stars famous footballers from Real Madrid in special cameo appearances. You can watch a collection of Real Pets clips online, just go to www.realpets.tv (click on "english" in the upper right hand corner of the screen and then select "chapters").
Real Pets will be airing internationally on Real Madrid Television and other satellite channels around the world.
