Puppetry and Podcasting at Podcamp London

I'm presenting the updated, 2009 version of my PuppetVision: Puppetry and Podcasting presentation this morning at Podcamp London in beautiful London, Ontario. If you're here at Podcamp today, I'll be speaking during session four in the Richmond Room. Stop by and say hello!

The Puppetry of the Podcast @Podcamp Toronto

A video of Brian Hogg's presentation from Podcamp Toronto, The Puppetry of the Podcast, is now available to download (click the link for a streaming Quicktime file). Unfortunately, it was shot from an odd angle, but you still get to see most of what he was talking about fairly well. Most of the content will be familiar to anyone who's read this blog for a long time - it was intended for a general audience at Podcamp unfamilar with puppet podcasts - but it provides a really nice overview of the current puppet podcasting scene.

If you're a video or audio podcaster yourself, you should check out the video archive of presentations from Podcamp Toronto 2009. There were a lot of really interesting presentations (I especially liked Becoming a Legitimate Media Outlet by Matt and Nat of BSG Cast) and you're sure to learn a thing or two from all of them.

TV Puppetry Workshop in Sydney

Puppeteer Gary Friedman teaches TV puppetry workshops this spring in Sydney, Australia.

Gary Friedman is once again teaching workshops in film & TV style puppetry in Sydney, Australia. The course runs from mid-April to early June 2008 and is "suitable for film makers, puppeteers, performers, and others interested in learning about how puppetry is made for the screen." Participants will learn how to build their own puppets and how to develop, perform and direct their short scenes on camera. Gary has uploaded a short video to YouTube with information about the course and if you're interested in enrolling you can email Gary directly at info@puppetrynews.com.

Sesame Street at The Garden State Film Festival

If you're in or around New York or New Jersey this weekend The Garden State Film Festival in Asbury Park, NJ is hosting two Sesame Street workshops this Saturday.

You Can Be A Muppeteer! is for children aged 6 to 12 and explains how puppets are performed on TV gives them opportunity to perform a puppet and watch their performances live on a monitor. The second workshop, An Evening At Sesame Street, is a panel discussion recommended for familes and adults interested in puppetry and is a question and answer seminar with puppeteers Patrick Holmes and Ryan Dillon talking about the different puppetry styles and techniques used on Sesame Street as well as how to get into the business.
