A Sushi Western

Badlands is a new puppetry "Sushi Western" from Sam K. Hale.

Sam K. Hale (see previous post) is pitching a new projet called Badlands, a "Sushi Western" that combines the Wild West with Bunraku-style puppetry. There's a Badlands demo video available on YouTube that explores the concept. I think the idea of mashing up traditional Japanese stories and puppetry with the Wild West is interesting and I hope Sam gets to develop this further.

Playing with Dolls

Playing With Dolls is a proposed new series made by literally playing with dolls.

Dan Clark (see previous post) sent in a teaser for Playing With Dolls, a proposed new series his company will be pitching in the new year. I really like the way the show uses puppets assembled from doll parts, but still has a nice, polished look to it.

4/2/08 Update: I removed the video from YouTube at the request of Dan Clark after some nasty, hateful comments were left on the site. It's sad that it only takes one or two idiots to spoil a good thing.
