When I get back to Canada I'm looking forward to watching Fraggle Rock: The Complete First Season which is waiting for me back home.
For anyone who missed it the 1980s, Fraggle Rock was a children's television series created by Jim Henson that featured a cast of Muppet creatures called Fraggles. The series' modest goal was to "promote world peace" by depicting a colorful, fun world filled with complex systems of symbiotic relationships between different "races" of creatures, with each group fairly unaware of how interconnected and important they were to one another.
It's beautiful series and it's only been rerun occasionally since it's original run on CBC and HBO in the mid-1980s so Fraggle fans have been clamouring for this for years (the decision to release full seasons of the series was sparked in part by a fan-driven online petition) and now that it's here it looks to have been worth the wait. The Season One set has some great extras, including a paper replica of Jim Henson's notebook from the development period of the series (its included in the box), early footage of the the show's cast "auditioning" for different characters and interviews with puppeteers Jerry Nelson, Karen Prell, Steve Whitmire and Dave Goelz.
